Frequently Asked Questions

What is Decluttering? How long will it take? Will I need to throw everything away?  These are just a few questions declutterers get asked. We have put together some of the more frequent questions which have been asked, not only to answer your questions, but to show that you are not alone and you are not the only one, others have been in the same situation and have asked them too.

If you do have a question and we’ve not mentioned it below, please don’t think that you can’t ask, you can, drop me an email at sorted@ke-decluttering.co.uk

What is Decluttering?

Decluttering is sorting through your belongings, selecting items which you no longer need or enjoy and taking them out of your space leaving only the items you love, enjoy, or need.

When might I need a declutterer?

There are many reasons or changes in circumstances when you might need a declutterer. To mention a few; you might be moving home, getting married, having a baby or you already have children (we all know how much clutter they bring!), going through a divorce, downsizing your home, or dealing with probate and you need to sort a relations items and home or it might simply have got too much. We can help in all these circumstances; please do drop us a line and we can help you.

I would like help, but I am so embarrassed by the clutter I have!

You have no reason to be embarrassed, we all need help from time to time, we are not here to judge anyone and their circumstances, we want to and can help you, just drop us a line, that’s the hardest part.

I am beyond help; I just have so much clutter!

You’re not beyond help! As for ‘so much clutter’, we can help you sort that out. You’re lucky, we love decluttering, and we love organising. After the process you will feel amazing, confident, and proud knowing you can now relax in your own space and not feel the way you felt before.

Will I have to throw everything away?

All of our decluttering projects are guided by you and if you really don’t want to part with something then you don’t have to. We will ask questions as to why you want to keep the item, but we are not there to make you part with it.

When the decluttering is finished, what happens to the items I’m parting with?

We will take one car load of donatable items to a charity shop at the end of our decluttering session. Items of value we will leave with you to do as you will. The broken or unusable items which cannot be donated, you will need to arrange for these to be disposed of as we don’t hold a waste carrier licence. If it is going to be collected and disposed of on your behalf, please ensure that the carrier holds a current waste carrier licence.

Can you declutter my home without me there?

It is best that you are there during the decluttering sessions. Many decisions will need to be made to either keep an item or part with it and whilst we can make a judgement on the items, it is better for you to do that. I will be there to guide you through the process, you will not be doing this alone.

How long will decluttering take?

We would prefer to see the space or spaces before we can give you an estimate on how long it might take to declutter, as it does vary depending on how large the space is, what is within the space and how quickly decisions can be made. Why don’t you give us a call or send us an email and we can start you on your decluttering journey.

Now we have decluttered and finished organising, what happens next?

Once you’ve got to this stage on your decluttering journey, firstly, amazing - well done you, you should feel inspired and encouraged to keep the momentum going. If you would like us to help you maintain a clutter free space, we do offer an aftercare service for an additional fee which includes ongoing contact, ideas and tips as well as other strategies to continue to keep your spaces clutter free. Please ask us for details.

Why do you have a minimum session of 3 hours?

Decluttering isn’t a quick fix, it is something which needs to be worked on and you just cannot get any significant results in an hour, it would be unfair to you if we claimed you could.

Do you work in the evenings or at weekends?

Our core hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm but we do recognise that evenings and weekends are better in some instances, so in this case please do contact us and we would be happy to have a chat about your requirements.

I am going to give you a call, what happens next?

Well done for making that decision, rest assured we will guide you through the process and you will ultimately be able to reclaim your space back. To get in touch with us, either call or email and we will start off the process. We will ask you some questions to get things started and we can get you on your decluttering journey. If you do have some photos and you don’t mind sharing them with us that would be very helpful.
